Rim Banna

Palestinian singer, lyricist and composer from Nazareth, Rim Banna’s songs are inspired by the Palestinian people’s determination, heritage, history, and culture. She loved music and singing since her childhood and in 1991 she graduated from the GNESINS conservatory in Moscow. Since then, Rim has released 12 albums, with her latest release in January 2013, “Revelation of Ecstasy & Rebellion”, produced by renowned pianist Bugge Wesseltoft.

Collaborating in her early years with musician Leonid Alexienko, they together created a unique style in music, performance, and lyrics, while in the past few years she has collaborated with several European musicians. In addition to her albums singing of love, pain, and the revolution, Rim made a vital contribution to Palestinian music by re-arranging, performing, and recording children’s lullabies and songs from the folklore of Palestine and the Levant.

She participated in different Palestinian, Arab and international Festivals, where she represented Palestinian voice, and has received many awards, including the Palestine award in 2000.
